Good Evening Cardinal Parents,
I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and are ready to start week two of the school year. Starting tomorrow parents will not be allowed to walk students to the classrooms. If you park on E. Virginia St. you can walk them to the building door and students will head to their classrooms from there. As a reminder we begin taking in car riders at 7:20 and 8:00 is the tardy bell. Please sign up for parent portal through the school and download the NCPS app so we can get all our parents connected to Rooms which has taken the place of class dojo this year. We have many teachers who are waiting for parents to get connected. Please contact the front office if you are having issues. Mrs. Denton and Mrs. Gill are working to get all students on bus routes as soon as possible. They will continue to be in contact with those of you waiting for a bus and we thank you for your patience as the transportation department works through the routing process. We will be kicking off the Candyman fundraiser soon so be on the lookout for that. We have had a great start to the year and thank you all for your efforts and patience as we continue to work through these first few weeks of school. Looking forward to seeing all our Cardinals tomorrow morning. Good night.

Good Evening Cardinal Parents,
We are excited for the first day of school tomorrow. A few reminders to help our first day run smoothly. We will begin taking in car riders in the morning at 7:20. Students arriving between 7:20-7:40 will report to the cafeteria. From 7:40-8:00 students will report to their homeroom classes. All students at NES are eligible for free breakfast and lunch this year so keep that in mind as you plan for your family. As you know the district is short bus drivers so Mrs. Denton and Mrs Gill our Principal Intern will be working diligently to be sure all students who need a bus get one as soon as possible. They will communicate with you regarding busing issues through the nash county public school app and the Rooms program. Rooms has taken the place of dojo this year so if you have not downloaded the NCPS app and got connected with your child's teacher in Rooms please do so as soon as possible. Our afternoon car rider lines will be long for the first few weeks as we get our students and parents into the routine in the afternoon. We will begin loading cars around 3:05 and ask that you expect the line to be long and know that once the process is streamlined we will get through it in less than 30 minutes. Please also be aware of and courteous to those families who live in our neighborhood by not blocking their driveways and moving for them if they need to get out of their driveway. We look forward to a great first day of what will be a wonderful school year for the students at NES. See you in the morning!

Important Update: NCPS Bus Driver Shortage

Good Evening Cardinal Parents, We are excited for open house tomorrow where you can come meet your teachers, see the campus and get excited about the new school year. You can attend the early session between 11-1 or the late session between 4-6. Please don't come too early for either session as it will be hot outside and the nats can be terrible in the evening if you are waiting outside before the doors open. We will have information about transportation, technology devices, powerschool and the NCPS app, any medical needs with our nurse as well as information about after school programs and community partnerships. We will have a PTA membership drive as well. When you come on campus be sure to get a memo with all the locations of these events and we will have signs posted and staff available to help you find your classroom and everything else. We can't wait to see you tomorrow!

Good Afternoon Cardinal Parents,
We have one week left before we welcome our students back to school for the start of the 2023-24 school year. Tuesday evening we will have a campus cleanup event from 5:00-7:00PM. We will be spreading mulch, raking beds, picking up litter and blowing off our sidewalks and parking lots. If you would like to help us with this just come out and we will find a job for you. If you have any tools, like rakes, shoevels, wheel barrows or blowers then please bring them as well. Teachers are making calls to students to introduce themselves and share information. Our open house will be this Thursday. We will have two sessions one from 11:00-1:00 and another from 4:00-6:00. Our PTA will have a membership drive kickoff at our open house. PTA membership is $10 and all those families who join will get student wristbands to run through a giant blowup obstacle course. We hope to have an increase in our PTA membership this year and look forward to a great kick off on Thursday. Also at open house you will be able to sign up for parent portal, get transportation information and find out about after school programs that are available as well as other community resources for our families. We look forward to seeing you Thursday! Good night.

Campus Clean up Event! If you would like to come help us put out mulch, rake beds, pick up sticks, blow the sidewalks and driveways and complete a litter sweep then please come out on Tuesday August 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Bring any tools you may have that will assist with the jobs we are completing.
Thank you Cardinal Families!

Good Evening Cardinal Parents this is Mr. Mangano calling to let you know that tomorrow is the last day to sign up for buses if you have not already done so. The link for the form can be found on the NCPS website. We will host our Open House next Thursday August 24th. There will be one session from 11-1 and one from 4-6. You can come meet your teachers, see the school campus, and confirm how your child is getting to and from school. We will also have a PTA membership drive. Joining PTA costs $10.00 per family. As a perk and incentive for joining PTA this year we will have wristbands for students to run through the blowup obstacle course after visiting the classroom and participating in open house. We look forward to a great year at school and will share more information with you next week about the upcoming school year.
Have A great evening!
