In preparation for the upcoming second semester, schools will be closed to students on the following dates: Friday, January 17, 2025 Monday, January 20, 2025 (in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day) Tuesday, January 21, 2025 (for continued preparations) Wednesday, January 22, 2025 (for continued preparations) Students will return to school on Thursday, January 23, 2025, marking the first day of the second semester. Thursday will be a regular school day, allowing students who missed an exam to make it up. EOC Testing (Math I, Math III, and Biology): If you’re taking any of these exams, you now have the option to use the Read Aloud feature. Due to the forecast of below-freezing conditions and the potential for today’s precipitation to freeze on roadways, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for staff and students on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Essential personnel should report at their regular time, provided it is safe to do so. Breakfast will be available at schools. It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This season offers us the perfect opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend precious moments with family and friends. Our Winter Break will begin on Monday, December 23, 2024, and will end on Friday, January 3, 2025. During this time, we encourage you to enjoy quality time with loved ones and take time to reset for the year ahead. As Winter Break approaches, please note that first semester exams for the 2024-2025 school year will be held after the break. When you return to school on Monday, January 6, 2025, you will begin focused exam review sessions to help you prepare for exams, which will begin on Friday, January 10, 2025. To ensure you meet all requirements for earning course credit, please review the exam exemption policy. This policy applies only to students not enrolled in Biology, English II, Math I, Math III, and/or CTE courses. Exemptions are available only for teacher-made exams, which are scheduled alongside state-mandated testing. Additionally, please familiarize yourself with the attendance policy to ensure you receive credit for all first-semester courses. These policies are outlined in the Parent-Student Handbook, available on our website. Be sure to check your email regularly for important updates regarding your exam schedule and locations. The system will automatically send a text message and/or phone call if a student misses one or more class periods or is absent for the entire day. To help you track attendance, the system will show the total number of absences for each individual class, as well as the overall accumulation of absences.
